Well, it’s the real deal.
Organic food, in general, contains no artificial additives, pesticides or chemicals, and is produced using sustainable land management practices that ban the use of agricultural chemicals and genetically modified organisms (GMO’s). Animals are reared in humane conditions without the routine use of antibiotics and growth promoters.
Because it is grown naturally, you will see more seasonal variation in organic compared to conventional produce. You may also find that your fruit and vegetables are not always uniform, with some variability in size and shape. This is a true celebration of nature’s individuality, with nothing added to maintain aesthetics.
And guess what? We think you’ll find that the quality of organic foods is better with far more texture and a greater intensity of flavour and sweetness – you’ll truly notice the difference. Its only logical if natural ripening is allowed before each harvest.
So how can you be sure that a product is truly organic?
Look for the certification label on all genuine organic products. Certification gives you an independent guarantee that the producer has passed a strict set of standards, which cover all aspects of production; from producer registration, to packaging and distribution, right through to environmental conservation. Full traceability from the farm or production plant to our shelves is offered.
And to make it easy for you, we clearly label our products so you know exactly what you are buying.
In NZ, the certification labels include Biogro, Agriquality, Demeter, and OrganicFarmNZ.
